Livingroom Idea... Picture Ledge

I know. I know. Enough with the living room posts already. But that's all I can think about right now! I'm itching to finish stuff up and make it look like ME! And hey, if you have any other ideas of what I should "talk" about, feel free to leave it in the comments!

I started making picture rails for above the couch. I just put the finial coats of paint on them about an hour ago. So when that's all done, I'll be posting pictures of that on here.

They're going to look similar to this, but without the back piece. I don't think that's needed, so we'll see.
Those are Ikea's Ribba Picture Ledge but the price for 12 feet of them was a bit much. I spent about $35 at Home Depot getting the wood for two 6 foot picture rails and a 6 foot shelf for behind the couch. Definitely a better price, IMO.

I'm going for a look like this with the ledges, but obviously only above one side since the couch sits in front of a window. And without the giant vase full of sunflowers. That can go somewhere else.

So that's about all I've been doing right now, for the living room anyways. I tore out my oldest daughter's carpet last week and am working on a post all about that, but I thought you just had an anti-carpet post the other day, so that one will have to wait until I actually do anything to the floor now that the carpet's gone.

And as always, if you have any suggestions of what you would like to read on here (want me to do or try out... anything), just leave a comment and I'll see what I come up with! I'm always looking for inspiration.

  1. Love the Idea of the picture ledges :-) Since the closest Ikea to me is 4 hours away................ wonder how it would look on a 14 foot high wall? I've got cathedral ceilings in most rooms.

    1. If you can send me pictures of the wall you're trying to decorate and the surrounding walls, I can try to help you come up with something to make it more visually pleasing.. I don't see why you COULDN'T use picture ledges, but you need art that's to scale for the area as well...
